We are pleased to announce that Andrew Barclay 2157 has moved to the Swindon and Cricklade Railway for the remainder of its overhaul.
Saturday 3rd February finally saw the movement of the locomotive from a private site in Wiltshire to the railway where it will be based.
The vehicle transporting the loco was a 1972 Atkinson Borderer which made the move that extra special - the vehicle is fitted with a cummins engine which definitely made itself known.
1972 was the year our loco was withdrawn from service which subsequently lead to it being sold for scrap in 1977. It was said that this type of vehicle could have been of the type that took the loco to the scrap yard!
I think you will agree with us that the vehicle looks fantastic and is a huge credit to the owner.
A huge thank you to the Swindon and Cricklade trust for having us and for the use of the facilities to overhaul the locomotive. We look forward to working with them, the 82K steam department, other departments and the volunteers at the railway.
